The BARC Westfield Sports Car Championship

Since 1991 the Westfield factory has run its own "Westfield Championship", in association with the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) and provides the perfect package for those who have always wanted to have a go, but have needed someone to give them a helping hand.

The Championship runs with the Dunlop Great and British Festival meetings one of the premier club racing events on the calendar and with selected BARC Club meetings

In our opinion;

"No other race championship offers such a variety of opportunities to both novice and expert drivers alike, provides as much fun for as little cost and has such close racing"

The championship is run to a controlled specification based on the lightweight SE race chassis and body with only very limited modifications. The standard 1800cc Ford Zetec engine is used with twin carburettors, an ECU management system and Dunlop control race tyres.

New to 2008 there is a class A car based on the Westfield AeroRace car with a 2.0 litre Zetec engine running to a tightly controlled specification.

As you would expect with a championship like this there is a strong camaraderie between the racers in the paddock and you will always find a helping hand in the event of a problem. This racing is perfect for both the newcomer to circuit racing and experienced racers. It does not rely upon a large budget and close racing is ensured without placing a premium on expensive bolt-on parts or technical expertise. The cars are relatively unstressed due to the unmodified engine specification, providing reliability and low running costs.
